Thermal waste treatment is one of the strategic solutions that can enhance energy stability in cities. Facilities using municipal waste as fuel can serve as local, diversified sources of heat and electricity. As a result, they help reduce dependence on traditional fossil fuels while also limiting the risk of energy supply disruptions.
The energy security of this model is based on its decentralized character. Energy is generated where the waste is produced, reducing transport costs and minimizing risks associated with fuel imports. At the same time, the recovery of heat and electricity in such plants contributes to stabilizing district heating tariffs, which can play an important role in mitigating energy poverty.
The entire project – from the design phase through to final commissioning – is delivered using a 5D BIM methodology. The resulting project model serves as a single source of truth for both construction planning (4D) and cost control (5D). BIM also enables the use of augmented reality to coordinate disciplines in real time and verify progress on site. This leads to faster decision-making, improved predictability, and fewer errors before execution or during the planning of subsequent project phases.
